Acquisition and Systems Integration

Context

Following Augean’s acquisition of Future Industrial Services (FIS) in 2023, they set out to migrate FIS onto group systems, retire legacy applications and reduce technical debt. The technical delivery was underway, but the programme required the setup of a clear plan, defined roles and a robust internal governance process. Activities to drive the project forward were largely driven at a third party supplier pace, with BAU teams requiring clarity against competing priorities and resourcing.

Nine Feet Tall was engaged to bring structure and control to the project, to align stakeholders and to ensure the migration landed safely for both systems and people. Nine Feet Tall were required to provide a strong steer from both functional and operational areas, bringing together key stakeholders from both Augean and FIS to ensure a smooth transition.

Delivery

Nine Feet Tall established a practical project structure that put people first, including an integrated plan, clarity on expected roles and responsibilities, RAID log integration, an approved cutover plan, to‑be process maps, UAT plan and log, communications plan and end‑user training guides.

This created an extensive single version of the truth for timelines, dependencies and ownership across Augean, FIS and the systems integrator. Utilising this setup the project now had trackable and data driven insights from which key decisions could be confidently made and actioned.

Process mapping workshops shaped both solution design and training content, ensuring that the teams affected by the changes were informed, involved and empowered. Nine Feet Tall then coordinated user acceptance testing, managed risks and issues, and led cutover planning and execution. Alongside this, targeted communications and practical “how‑to” materials prepared FIS colleagues for the new ways of working ahead of go‑live.

Outcomes

The migration of FIS onto Augean’score business systems was delivered on time and to budget, with no delay to the planned go‑live, a success shared and celebrated by all those involved in the delivery. Any issues arising were anticipated and managed within the agreed plan thanks to expert project and people management, avoiding disruption to core operations.

FIS teams were fully trained and able to use the new systems from day one, resulting in minimal post‑go‑live queries and a smooth transition away from legacy platforms. The project reduced technical debt, standardised processes and demonstrated the value of clear governance and people‑centred change in delivering a complex integration.
