In 2018 St John’s Foundation (SJF) implemented a new finance system which failed to meet the organisations specific requirements. Recognising the need for a more robust and strategic approach, SJF engaged Nine Feet Tall to lead a comprehensive procurement process to ensure the right system was chosen. The key challenges included inefficient, manual finance processes that extended beyond the finance team, heavy reliance on spreadsheets for reporting and data manipulation, lack of integration with core business systems such as Salesforce and Stripe, and inconsistent processes between SJF and its related entity, the House of St John.
Nine Feet Tall worked closely with SJF to develop a detailed list of both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring all business needs were captured. Through a series of collaborative workshops, they mapped existing processes and designed a thorough RFP process, including criteria for vendor scoring and demonstration. 9FT conducted extensive market research to identify suitable vendors and managed the entire RFP process, from initial engagement through to vendor analysis and final selection. Throughout, they facilitated clear communication, supported vendor demonstrations, and guided SJF through each stage of decision-making to ensure the chosen solution would be fit for purpose.
SJF successfully identified a vendor as their preferred finance solution, confident that it meets their specific needs and future ambitions. The foundation is now partnering with Nine Feet Tall for project assurance during the implementation phase, ensuring a smooth transition and laying the groundwork for more efficient, integrated, and standardised finance operations across the organisation.
