Gloucestershire County Cricket Club

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first class county cricket clubs in England and Wales, and one of the oldest with over 150 years of history.

Project Context

In a pivotal time for cricket, with a lot of planned change to national strategy and execution, GCCC wanted independent support to help shape their organisational strategy and roadmap for the next two years. This included exploring a potential merger & unification to streamline delivery of community cricket as well as addressing organisational culture and challenges around governance. These challenges included changes at Board level to better serve the local community.

Project Delivery

Nine Feet Tall scoped GCCC’s ambitions and objectives to achieve their future vision and provided strategic guidance to deliver the following outputs. - Insights were gathered through individual consultations with stakeholders from the club’s past, present & future. - A high level strategic roadmap, exploring purpose, vision & identity in a rapidly changing landscape. - Organisational priorities were established and a clear vision for success drawn up - Nine Feet Tall also provided governance structure advice & change management.

Outcomes

Nine Feet Tall helped align the club’s governance with those recommended by key stakeholders such as England & Wales Cricket Board and Sport England. In a recent governance audit, the governance at GCCC is now ranked as one of the highest in the country. The club’s board now better reflects the community they serve and the ability to achieve their long- and short-term ambitions.

The Nine Feet Tall team have always been super helpful and have the unique ability to bring a friendly but considered eye across businesses, cutting through internal hang-ups to get to the heart of the challenges we've faced and provide a clear route to success.
